Rhino Handmade Releases Charles Wright Albums

There are few things as satisfying as spending a day in a musty old record store in some out of the way town, flipping through dozens of Herb Alpert records in search of some rare soul or garage rock record that you've spent years searching for.  Rhino Records understands that feeling.

With their Handmade imprint, Rhino releases CDs on a semi-regular basis in limited quantities.  Call them limited edition if you want, but it's more likely that the limited amount is due more to lack of widespread demand than a desire to create instant collectors' items.  After all, there can't be all that many people (besides some of us at Lush Life) that would lay out hard earned money for a 7-disc box set of everything layed to tape during The Stooges Funhouse sessions.

This month, Rhino Handmade releases two CDs from Charles Wright & Watts 103rd St. Band: Live at The Haunted House- May 18, 1968   and Pucky Pucky: Jams & Outtakes 1970-71.  For those of you who don't know, Charles Wright & Watts 103rd St. Band bridged the gap between classic 1960's soul and early funk, much of it with a socially conscious message.  The uninitiated might want to start with Express Yourself: The Best of Charles Wright, but for our fellow crate-diggers, you're in for a treat.
