Sometimes you just need to explore your nerdy side, and tonight you can in two boroughs!
Angels and Kings is hosting their monthly Nerd Night tonight starting at 7 p.m. Described as "the Discovery Channel with beer," we're envisioning some epic drunk guy vs. shark battles, but we'll settle for a more tame exhibit if owner Pete Wentz can keep his pants on.
Kicking off tonight's onslaught of nerdiness is Ben Nugent, author of American Nerd: The Story of My People. Followed by Eric Molinsky's animation demonstration. If you aren't feeling too lame after all of this nerd talk, hang around for Kristen Klemenhagen who shows off her extensive fMRI knowledge and teaches you the "hydrogen proton procession," which she seems to be billing as a dance.
If you prefer your nerds Brooklyn style, head to Union Hall for a meeting of the Secret Science Club tonight at 8 where Anthropology and Evolution are on the docket. Anthropologist William Jungers asks the age old question: "How have hominids changed over the last 6 million years?" And, to get the discussion flowing, Union Hall is offering a special cocktail called the Naked Ape.
Either event will make you smarter- even if the beer you'll be drinking makes you dumber. Keep in mind, there's nothing hotter than a nerd who can drink. And, that's math.
