Say what you want about the Bedford Avenue scene these days, but Sound Fix Records has a special place in our hearts here at Lush Life. Recently, we got to see Langhorne Slim play a free set at their bar behind the store, and feasted on cheap cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon. If you aren't up for leaving the apartment this afternoon and catching The Breeders at McCarren Park Pool, how about making a mix tape and meeting some (potentially) cool people in the process?
Tonight is the monthly Fix Tape Party at Sound Fix, where participants are invitied to make a mix based around a theme and then randomly exchange it at the bar with strangers. This month's theme is Food/Eating and you are encouraged to bring extra copies to trade with others as the night wears on.
The fun starts at 8pm. Here's the info.
Personally, I'm wondering if "Cherry Cherry" by Neil Diamond counts as a food song, since I always equate it with those delicious Hostess Pies....
