Dinosaurs and....Mint Juleps?

As if seeing dinosaur bones and buying fossilized poop that is millions of years old isn't enough reason to visit the Museum of Natural History in Manhattan, we've got one more for you.  On Tuesday, July 22nd, the museum will host an event titled "The Mint Julep: Official Drink of the Kentucky Derby".  The former beverage director of The Library Lounge in New Orleans and acclaimed mixologist Chris McMillan, will share his julep recipe with David Wondrich.  Wondrich, who is a contributing editor for Esquire, is also the author of one of our favorite books about the history of cocktails: Imbibe! From Absinthe Cocktail to the Whiskey Smash, a Salute in Stories and Drinks to "Professor"  Jerry Thomas, Pioneer of the American Bar.

These two giants of mixology will discuss the history and lore of the julep while preparing the drink.  No word on whether the audience will be allowed a taste.  For more information on the event, go here.
